Psychologist Information

Psychological evaluation are performed by qualified examiners. School psychologists employed by Macon County must be licensed by the State Department of Public Instruction. A psychological evaluation should inlcude an assedssment of cognitive functioning and may also include, but not be limited to, assessments of education performance, social/emotional/behavioral functioning, and adaptive behavior. Procedures used by the psychologist may include formal and informal assessment measures, observations, interviews, and other techniques as deemed appropriate by the psychologist. Psychological services include administering psychological, educational tests and other procedures in order to determine a student's strengths and educational, social, behavioral and/or developmental needs, interpreting assessment results, obtaining, integrating, and interpreting information about a child's bvehavior and environmental conditions related to learning and development, consluting with paents, teachers, and other schol personnel in planning program and services, planning an managing a program of psychological services, referring children and families to community agencies and services, screening and early identification of children with disabilities, developing strategies for the prevention of learning and behavior problmes and assisting in developing postivie behavioral strategies.
